About RMH
What is RMH?
The Ronald McDonald House provides temporary and comfortable housing for families of children who are struggling with cancer. RMH provides a home away from home for families while their children are treated in New York hospitals. Housing is at low to no cost, but most importantly, families are given security, comfort, and community during times when they need it the most.

I volunteer and work as a tutor for several organizations both inside and outside of school. I am enrolled in the Accelerated Calculus course at my school and I have experience tutoring 2nd-9th graders! I primarily tutor math, but also Spanish and writing/reading. I also love solving difficult math problems with my peers!

I am a senior in high school and I enjoy dancing (I won the Dance Challenge at my 8 year old cousin's birthday party), experimenting with cooking and baking scuffins (combination of scones and muffins).

I also know what it is like to be challenged, and I am committed to helping others. Now, with Common Factors, I can share my love - with students who are eager to learn!

Mr. Powers has been a full-time tutor for sixteen years, working with students of all ages on school math, standardized tests, ELA skills, and essay writing. His patience and calm demeanor allow him to teach enjoyable but productive lessons to his students, and his exposure to a variety of school curricula gives him a number of approaches to a topic that work for each individual student. Nearly all of his students see significant improvement in their subject or test scores. John lives on the Upper East Side and works in person and online.

She worked for the Department of Education (DOE) and currently teaches at a bilingual school, where she has experience teaching mathematics across all elementary grade levels. Over the years, she has developed a student-centered approach that adapts to each child’s individual learning style, pace, and needs.
She holds a degree in Political Science, with a major in Economics and Statistics, giving her a strong analytical and quantitative foundation. She believes that every student can succeed in math when concepts are explained clearly, patiently, and in a way that makes sense to them.
Her goal as a tutor is not only to help students improve their math skills and grades, but also to help them develop confidence, problem-solving skills, and a positive attitude toward mathematics.
She tutors primarily online.
